The sudden departure of bass player Pieter Kik to sunnier skies in California set in motion a series of events that would forever change the Howtoplays. Keyboard player Erik was rumored to have run off with a defenseless girl he found in his studio, and drummer Toon was spotted on several occasions wearing African pajamas on the street. The band being in complete disarray, singer/songwriter Richard started doing what he always did best: write new songs.

Only weeks later, first news of these songs reached California. Richard and Pieter decided to start working on an intercontinental project, in which partially completed songs crossed the Atlantic in digital format, to be arranged and remixed by Pieter. The result of this project can be heard on "file sharing".
