fruity loops 99
Fruity Loops is the HTP's 1999 summer project. The record is
generally seen as a study for the album Pop Kit (2000). Fruity Loops
is the first album without Jos Niessen, forcing the HTPs to learn the
lore of the drumcomputer. To spice up the mix, a brand new member
is attracted. On Fruity Loops Erik Verkoyen convincingly shows
off his many talents, granting him a permanent position in the HTPs.
An other important change is the recently acquired digital recording
equipment. Fruity Loops was recorded straight to hard disk. This opened
the way to a new sound and a lot more freedom in the mixing stage.
Richard's background in graphic design results in a manic tendency
to cut and past elements of the songs, an approach which was further
explored in the Pop Kit 2000 project.
